5-on-5 flag football · ages 10–13
This is your playbook, Bucs. You own one controller button — find your shape on the play card and run your color, just like picking a play in Madden. Four base passes, four runs, four trick plays. Learn them all and nobody can stop us.
These four win games. Learn them until you can run them in your sleep — the trick plays only work after you've mastered these.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Four short options at once — somebody is always open. Your everyday play, and your answer when they blitz.
Hitch at 5. Run 5 yards, snap around, show the QB your hands.
Quick out. 5 yards, hard cut to the sideline.
Look-in. Snap it, then slide into the open middle.
Left flat. Sprint sideways past the line, look back right away.
Two-second rule. Count “one-two” and throw to the first open shape.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
The crossers run defenders into each other. Deadly against man coverage — whoever loses their chaser is wide open.
Shallow cross. Sprint all the way across at 5 yards. Don't stop.
Deep cross. Cross the other way at 12 yards, over the top of Square.
Sit. Snap, take 3 steps, turn around in the middle.
Left flat. Safety valve — be there if nothing else works.
Watch the crossers. Throw to whichever one pops free.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Three receivers, three depths, one side of the field. The defense can't cover all three levels — one is always uncovered.
Go deep. Fly down the right sideline — take the top off.
Deep out. Cross to the right and break out at 10 yards.
Right flat. Snap, then leak short to the right.
Backside slant. You're the surprise if they overload right.
Read high to low. Deep → middle → short, all on the right.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Everybody goes deep. For when they're crowding the line and we need a big chunk fast.
Go. Straight down the left sideline, fast as you can.
Go. Straight down the right sideline.
Seam. Snap it, then sprint straight up the middle.
Wheel. Swing to the left flat, then turn up the sideline.
Throw to grass. Lead your receiver — throw where they're going, not where they are.
No blocking in flag — on run plays, receivers ARE the blockers: sprint deep and drag your defender out of the runner's way. Sell it every single time. The ⇆ Flip button shows any run going the other direction.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Snap, hand, go. Fastest play in the book — great for short yardage and for setting up everything else.
Take the handoff and hit the middle. One cut, then north.
Snap and drag left — take your defender with you.
Sprint deep. You're clearing the runway, so sell it.
Sprint deep. Same job, right side.
Hand it, then fake like you still have the ball and roll out.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Your RB sweep — and your secret weapon. It's the exact same backward toss as Sneaky QB and Double Trouble, so every time you run it, the trick plays get more open.
Line up a step behind the QB. Catch the toss and win the footrace to the right corner — don't cut inside unless the edge is gone.
Toss it back, then fake your Sneaky QB sneak to the left — drag somebody with you.
Go deep and pull the corner defender out of the play.
Drag left after the snap — empty the middle.
Go deep backside — stay ready, the cutback comes your way.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Port means left on a pirate ship — and this is Broadside sailing the other way. X is already on the QB's left, so the pitch goes left and the run goes left. No crossing, just pure speed to the corner.
Line up a step behind the QB, on his left. Catch the pitch already moving left and beat everyone to the corner.
Pitch left, then fake a roll to the right — pull the defense the wrong way.
Go deep down the left sideline — drag the corner defender out of X's lane.
Drag right after the snap — empty the middle.
Go deep backside — keep your defender busy.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Speed beats everything. Square is already at full sprint when they get the ball — nobody catches the corner.
Motion across full speed, take the handoff, turn the right corner.
Fake the Dive up the middle — arms folded like you have it.
Go deep and drag your defender away from the corner.
Drag left after the snap — pull the middle away.
Time the snap so Square is passing you at top speed.
Every trick play is a sequel — it only works because the defense thinks they've seen it before. Your fakes are what make it work, so sell every fake like you've really got the ball. When Coach calls one, act like it's just another sweep… until it isn't.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Looks exactly like your sweep — then the ball comes back the other way. Handoff 1 at the QB, handoff 2 behind the backfield.
Take handoff 1, sweep right, slip the ball to Circle, keep faking right.
Loop behind the backfield, take handoff 2 going left, turn the corner.
Go deep left — clear the side the ball is coming back to.
Drift right with the fake.
After the give, point and yell “sweep!” to the right. Sell it.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
The sequel. Once they've chased Boomerang, the whole defense flies at Circle — and Square is all alone deep.
Take the reverse, run 3 steps left, pull up behind the line and throw deep to Square.
Jog like you're clearing out… then GO. Look back at Circle.
Same sweep-and-give as Boomerang. Sell it.
Drift right, then be Circle's short bailout if it's covered.
Fake right, stay out of the way.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
The pitch makes the QB an eligible receiver — and nobody ever covers the QB. The best trick play there is.
Pitch to X, stand still for one beat… then sneak down the left sideline.
Line up a step BEHIND the QB so the pitch travels backward. Catch it, roll right like a sweep, then throw back to the QB. Covered? Just run.
Go deep right — pull the defense with you.
Slant inside — empty the left sideline for the QB.
Drag right and hold the middle defenders.
Flipped — every “left” and “right” in the jobs swaps.
Starts exactly like Broadside and Sneaky QB — same backward toss, same roll right. But this time the ball goes deep to Circle. Three plays, one look — the defense is guessing wrong every time.
Backward pitch to X, then fake your Sneaky QB sneak — drag a defender with you.
Line up a step BEHIND the QB. Catch the pitch, roll right, take one look… and launch it to Circle.
Slant-and-go. Three steps inside like a slant… then take off.
Drag across at 10 — you're X's bailout if deep is covered.
Sit in the middle as option two.
Learn these eight routes and every play card above gets easy — a play is just four routes stacked together. Run them until your cuts are sharp enough to lose anybody.
Seven-game season, then playoffs. Home games we wear the light jersey, away games the dark — check your chip before you leave the house.
League rule: the home team is listed first on the master schedule and wears the light jersey.
